I bring a rich and diverse background, bringing unique perspectives and genuine understanding to my practice. As a single mother, a competitive three-day event rider, animal enthusiast, and a seasoned police officer with over 21 years of service, I have cultivated resilience, empathy, and a deep commitment to helping others navigate life’s challenges. My journey began in law enforcement and this experience granted me invaluable insights into crisis management, conflict resolution, and trauma-informed care. Throughout my policing career, I have worked with people from all walks of life, supporting individuals and families through some of their most difficult moments. My work has reinforced my belief in the power of connection, trust, and holistic support. Meet Dorothy

It is my belief and experience that change is possible. Humans have innate abilities and wisdom, which we can uncover when we feel heard, connected, and safe. As a therapist, my goal is to work together with you so that you feel seen, valued, and empowered to create meaningful changes in your life.

Background & Training

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I hold an M.A. in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a B.A. in Psychology from Simon Fraser University. Before becoming a counsellor, I worked as an education assistant in the Vancouver school system for ten years, supporting neurodivergent children and those struggling with emotional regulation. Additionally, I have a long-standing relationship with the Chinese community in Vancouver, where I teach emotional intelligence to children and youth and facilitate self-discovery retreats for adults.

My holistic approach to counselling is grounded in attachment theory, family systems, neuroscience, and somatic work. I view wellness as encompassing physical, mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual connections. My passion for yoga, breathwork, healthy living, and the fine arts deeply influences my therapeutic approach. Meet Dave

I offer therapy for adults and youth focusing on EMDR, performance psychology, ADHD treatment, anxiety and depression, men’s issues and challenges, and family/couples’ therapy. My work helps clients increase awareness of how emotions, experiences, and environments shape patterns in daily life. Clients often come to me motivated for growth but unsure how to begin. Through exploration and evidence-based techniques, I support meaningful change, improved emotional regulation, and stronger relational functioning.

With nearly 20 years of experience in counselling psychology, group facilitation, and leadership development, I have developed a relatable and empowering method that normalizes the counselling process. I hold a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor of Human Kinetics from UBC, specializing in EMDR, CBT, ACT, mindfulness and solution-based approaches.

My approach is client-centered, strength-based, and focused on achievable goals. My work is grounded in empathy and unconditional positive regard.

I specialize in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and ADHD coaching. I help individuals manage symptoms like impulsivity, distractibility, disorganization, and challenges with executive functioning. I also support those struggling with emotional regulation, boundary-setting, and identity concerns, particularly related to Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).
